Star U.S. swimmer breaks records and stereotypes
A gay athlete from Colorado is making waves both in and out of the pool.
Out sports reports gay swimmer Jack Thorne recently took out his third consecutive state championship, competing in the 100-metre backstroke while swimming for his high school. The star swimmer also broke the state record in the process at 48.30 seconds.
Last year Thorne came out via social media and he has since become an ambassador for LGBT athletes.
After consecutively becoming state champion in 2014 Thorne tweeted:
"Stereotypes are like records; made to be broken."
The swimmer is looking forward to attending Northwestern University in the fall and swimming for the Wildcats swim team.
