Pink Magpies flock together for ANZAC Day match

CREATED ON // Saturday, 25 April 2015 Author // James Findlay

The Pink Magpies, the LGBTI supporter group for the Collingwood Football Club, will be seated as one this ANZAC Day to celebrate the spirit of the ANZACs and commemorate those lost.

Ian Bell, secretary of the Pink Magpies, said:

"To respectfully celebrate the spirit of Anzac with peace and compassion we feel that this heartfelt endeavour is of interest to the LGBTI community and to the culture of the AFL."

Several members of the Pink Magpies, the first LGBTI supporter group in the AFL, have also lost family members close to them recently, with this game being the first since losing loved ones. The Pink Magpies decided to get together to support those in the group.

In 2015 the group celebrated 14 years as an official supporter group of the Collingwood Football Club and are the first predominantly female GLBTI group in the AFL.
