John Barrowman responds to Games gay kiss criticism
Torchwood and Arrow star John Barrowman has come under fire after taking part in a kiss with a male dancer as part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.
Barrowman has been criticised from a number of people who felt the kiss was inappropriate. UK fashion columnist Tessa Hartmann attacked Barrowman on BBC Breakfast the following day, saying the kiss was inappropriate for children
Others have been more positive in their response, including a Ugandan coach, Grace Eriyo who told The Times: “Where we come from it is illegal to kiss a man, but here you can have it on the TV, right in front of the Queen. To me that is so great.”
After retweeting some of the negative feedback about the kiss, Barrowman responded from his account.
I am retwtin the neg because I want u all to see how bitter and Nasty and Neg some people r:) I am so happy right now. Jb— John Barrowman News (@Team_Barrowman) July 23, 2014
