Convicts video to showcase Sydney for Bingham 2014
Preparations for the Bingham Cup continues in earnest with the Sydney Convicts recently filming a promotional video to further entice other gay rugby teams from around the world to participate in the tournament.
The Bingham Cup will be held in Sydney in 2014, to be hosted by the Convicts.
Andrew Purchas, chair of the Bingham Cup organising committee, said that with most gay rugby teams based in the US and Europe, the video will play a vital role in promoting the event.
“We want to generate as much excitement as possible to encourage the 50 gay rugby teams from around the world to visit Sydney,” Purchas said.
The video, produced by Mud Media, features Convicts players in a rugby game and in scenes throughout the city.
“Our aim is to make Sydney a destination for more than just the rugby teams for the Bingham Cup,” Purchas said.
“We are planning a number of social and cultural events around the tournament to create a mini Mardi Gras feel at the end of the August .”
The video will be launched on Saturday, May 25, at Kinselas on Taylor Square.
The launch is open to everyone and attendees will have the opportunity to meet the team and learn more about the Bingham Cup.
Meanwhile, the club is still recruiting for volunteers with marketing and communications skills to help with Bingham 2014.
