Sexy Galexy is on a mission

CREATED ON // Wednesday, 11 March 2015

Sexy Galexy is an institution when it comes to Drag Kings and now this King of King’s is on a new mission.

After 20 years of ‘King-ing’ Galexy has written a show about his life and what a life that’s been!

After being influenced by Sydney drag queens Galexy invented a new style of Drag King – the glamorous drag king - the Drag King extraordinaire.

From that moment on Galexy created two very successful performing nights in Sydney and performed and produced shows in some of Sydney’s biggest clubs and parties, from Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Sydney Pride, Gay Games, Arq nightclub and The DIVA awards.

From there Galexy went on the perform all over the globe, Melbourne and Perth Fringe Festivals, Candy Bar London and Brighton, Café de Paris London, Euro pride Stockholm, Dublin Arts Festival, Great Big International Extravaganza Washington DC, Manchester Pride, Tranny Shack London, Brighton Pride, Amsterdam Pride, Lovedance World Aids Day Amsterdam, Japan, Lezfest Cairns and an annual Drag King Convention in Minnesota USA, just to name a few.

In more recent times Sexy Galexy has been a regular staple at Melbourne’s ChillOut Festival.

And now the drag king extraordinaire is starring in his own Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, and as part of pulling this project off Galexy has launched a Pozible campaign.

“Along my Drag journey I have also met some amazing people and had many a crazy good time,” Galexy says. “This project is the pilot to my mission. After a midlife crisis I had many doubts whether I was going to perform again, this thought was extremely upsetting... So I decided to write a show, about my life. Who knew my life would end up being a comedy! In hindsight, life is one amusement park!”

Galexy is looking to raise $1500 with the funds going towards publicity.

“If you would love to help me with my dream, know that your donations will be used in wonderful creative ways and keeping an art form alive.”
