Zombie-killing hero of 'The Walking Dead' may turn out to be gay
TV Zombie saga The Walking Dead could introduce a same-sex love interest for one of its main characters, Daryl Dixon.
In an article titled ‘Is Daryl Dixon Gay?’, Robert Kirkman, co-creator of the comic book series the show is based on, told comicbook.com: “All I can say is that it’s been discussed. We have very specific ideas about Daryl’s sexuality – or the seeming lack thereof – and if there’s ever a quiet period in the show where he’s not consistently distracted by crossbowing… we’ll tackle it in the show.”
Dixon, played by actor Norman Reedus, has had close friendships with two women on the show, but they have remained platonic.
When asked if producers AMC would be supportive of a gay storyline, Kirkman said: “For the record, they absolutely would.”
There are several gay characters in the comic version of the story, however, Dixon’s character appears only in the TV series.
