Manchester Pride marred by gay bashing
A gay man was attacked following pride celebrations in Manchester. The 20-year-old victim was leaving a gay bar when he was set upon by a man wielding a broken glass bottle.
The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, said his attacker was wearing a balaclava and hurled gay slurs at him before threatening him with a bottle.
The thug reportedly called the victim a fag and said he did not belong in the Muslim world.
He then attempted to slash the victim in the face with the broken bottle but the victim managed to block the attack with his arm, avoiding serious injury to his face.
The victim was treated for lacerations on his arm and abdomen.
The victim told gaystarnews he was leaving a small pride party and was on his way home when the man attacked.
“At around 3.45am a man with a balaclava had a broken glass bottle and tried to get me in the face. Luckily I put my arm in front and he scratched my arm. He was saying things like I'm a sinner and I don't belong to the Muslim world.
"I called the police with the help of a few locals and they apprehended him. And he's been charged with GBH (greivous bodily harm).
The victim has described the attack as unprovoked and expressed shock at the incident. He also praised police for their quick response, which enabled them to apprehend his attacker.
Earlier this month Manchester police arrested five men in regards to ahomophobia attack.
