Lesbians take away top honour at UK garden show
A lesbian couple have walked away with the Gold medal at the world’s lareget flower show for their garden in honour of LGBT rights organisation, Stonewall.
Amanda Miller and her partner Emma Harvey have received the Gold award at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. Miller said she was inspired to create her design and dedicate it to Stonewall because of the challenges she faced growing up as a young lesbian in a small country town.
The program notes on the garden say: “It shows visitors how breaking down the wall of ignorance – in the form of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia – reveals a Pride we can all celebrate.”
Over 300,000 visitors are expected to tour the garden show before it concludes on July 13.
