Boy Scouts to lead NYC Pride parade
In a history-making move, openly gay members of the Boy Scouts of America will head up New York City’s annual Pride parade this weekend.
Until recently a member of The Scouts could be booted from the organisation for being gay. On Sunday, current and former BSA members and leaders will present the American flag to officials during the opening ceremony and will then kick off the march of 14,000 LGBTI people and supporters down Fifth avenue.
Gay right advocacy group GLAAD commented: “That local Scouts will now be leading one of the world's most iconic LGBT Pride events is a testament to both how far we've come and how far we have left to go in pursuit of full equality."
