Bishop who said homosexuality a psychological trauma under investigation for gay sex

A Minnesota Archbishop who has donated over $650,000 to anti-marriage equality campaigns and once suggested homosexuality was a result of psychological trauma, is under investigation for having sex with other priests.

Archbishop John Nienstedt is under investigation following allegations of sexual impropriety with other adult priests and seminarians.

Nienstedt is considered one of the most homophobic ministers in the US Catholic Church. He is vocal in his condemnation of homosexuality – suggesting being gay is a disorder and should be understood in the context of other human disorders such as malice and greed.  He once told a mother asking for guidance on her gay son that she should consider her eternal salvation.

Nienstedt was first accused of impropriety last December, but denied the allegations.

It is alleged investigators have received 10 sworn statements suggesting sexual impropriety on the part of the archbishop dating from his time as priest, bishop and archbishop.
