Elton John and David Furnish welcome second son
Sir Elton John and partner David Furnish have welcomed the latest addition to their family with the celebrity couple celebrating the birth of their second son late last week.
The ‘Rocket Man’ singer and Furnish only this week confirmed the birth of Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, who was born in Los Angeles on January 11, weighing 3.37 kilograms.
Both Sir Elton and Furnish are listed as the parents, with Californian law allowing the intended parents to be registered instead of the surrogate mother.
It is believed the couple used the same surrogate involved in the birth of their first son Zachary in December 2010.
“Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable,” the couple told Hello!.
“The birth of our second son completes our family in a most precious and perfect way. It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.”
Fellow pop star George Michael was reportedly one of the first to congratulate Sir Elton, 65, and film producer David, 50, sending a bouquet of blue flowers.
The couple wed in 2005 after 12 years together.
