Stars of Modern Family, Jesse Tyler and Eric Stonestreet have weighed in on the same-sex marriage debate, shooting a promo message for Australian Marriage Equality’s werewaiting.org campaign. In the video the pair wax lyrical on the lack of marriage equality in Australia.

Perched on deckchairs with the pristine waters of the Great Barrier Reef resplendent behind them, Stonestreet suggests he hates people from other countries getting involved in politics..Not long after the pair digress into a discussion of the craziness that marriage equality is not available in Australia – they resolve to hop a flight to New Zealand.

Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome, said, "This is a funny video with the serious message that the right of loving same-sex couples to marry is becoming a defining difference between Australia and similar western countries like New Zealand."

"We thank Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet for taking the time to make a video that will inspire many Australians to stop waiting and get involved in the marriage equality campaign."

"We also thank Jesse Tyler Ferguson for his $10,000 donation to Australian Marriage Equality which will go towards our grassroots campaign in the 50 electorates whose MPs will decide if marriage equality passes."
