‘Last week Coke was under fire from the LGBTI community for preventing users from adding the word ‘Gay’ to a social media campaign. Now the soft drink giant has made headlines again – this time for including gay parents in their Superbowl ad.

The Superbowl ad which aired over the weekend, featured Coke’s new ‘It’s Beautiful ‘campaign. The ad includes a montage of images designed to show the diversity of America’s people as they sing a multi-language version of ‘America the Beautiful’.

The ad includes images of a gay family at a roller skating rink.

Despite its positive message, the ad has received a mix of reactions across social media, including a range of xenophobic and homophobic remarks appearing on Twitter under the #AmericasBeautiful.
