ACON has produced a video detailing the first-hand accounts of Domestic Family Violence (DFV) survivors within the LGBTI community, in a bid to raise awareness of the issue.

Tales from the Other Side takes a candid and heartfelt look at the experiences of a cross-section of people within the LGBTI community who have suffered harm within their personal relationships.

The video identifies behaviours and dynamics unique to DFV situations within this community which include verbal abuse related to gender identity, controlling medication, or access to other treatments and outing as a method of control.

ACON CEO Nicholas Parkhill has expressed the importance of the video in providing a platform which allows LGBTI people to discuss a serious health issue.

"Tales From The Other Side will help raise awareness of DFV among LGBTI people while giving mainstream services an opportunity to learn more about how to positively work with community members seeking help.”
