The ABC's 7:30 Report has produced a segment on the upcoming Australia New Zealand Professional Association for Transgender Health (ANZPATH) conference interviewing both its organiser and president.

The conference - which will take place in Adelaide in October - aims to improve the health and well-being of people in the transgender community and is being described by psychiatrist and ANZPATH president Dr Rob Lyons as one of the first of its kind in Australia.

"This is probably the most comprehensive and most important conference on gender diverse issues that's ever been held in Australia, if not, the Southern Hemisphere," Lyons said.

Organiser and Associate Professor at Flinders University Cindy Macardle discusses the emotional side of her personal journey and her transitional phase from a man into a woman.
