WATCH: 11-year-old and gay mum discuss 'marriage equality' letter to PM

The 11-year-old boy who wrote to Tony Abbott demanding marriage equality for his two mums has appeared on Channel Ten's Studio 10 with one of his mothers to discuss his motivations for penning the letter.

Orlando Burcham was invited onto the talk show with his mother Cordelia and sister to discuss the letter which has now received worldwide attention.

When asked by host Sarah Harris why he wrote the letter to Tony Abbott asking for marriage equality for his mothers, Orlando simply stated:

"I wrote it because I believe everything should be fair in this country and that is one of the things that should be fair."

Burcham said he was "very disappointed' with the PM's letter of response.
