Victoria's Australian of the Year joins JOY for Pride March

LAST UPDATED // Friday, 31 January 2014 11:19

John Caldwell, Victoria's Australian of the Year for 2014, joins JOY 94.9 in covering Melbourne's annual Pride March this Sunday between 1 and 3pm.

Caldwell overcame a harsh early life which included being bullied at school for being gay, and went on to become a successful business man and youth advocate.

He was honoured with selection as Victoria's Australian of the Year for his charity work with anti-bullying organisation Angels Goal Australia which supports child and young adult victims of bullying.

“I am so excited to be on board with JOY 94.9 during Melbourne’s Pride March,” he said.

“This is an event that truly celebrates the culture and diversity of Victoria's gay, lesbian, bisexual, intersex and transgender community. I am absolutely in love with JOY as an organisation and am proud to lead them on this march that means so much to so many."

Listen live to Pride March at 94.9FM or via the JOY website
