If you’re in Melbourne and you’re thinking about starting a rainbow family of your own, then you may want to drop in on the Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby and Rainbow Family Council’s meeting this evening, for the Adoption Equality Campaign fourm: Love Makes a Family.

In Victoria, the current Adoption Act does not allow for a same-sex couples who are parents or carers (including foster parents) to apply to adopt their children. Nor does it allow a single person to apply to adopt (regardless of sexual or gender identity).

In WA, NSW, Tasmania and the ACT, same-sex couples are allowed to adopt and VGLRL is campaigning for an amendment to the Adoption Act so Victoria can follow suit.

To hear about the current campaign and its progress to date, you can attend the forum at the Victoria AIDS Council, 6 Claremont Street, South Yarra. June 24 – From 7pm – 830pm.
