Midsumma wants your feedback
The 26th annual Midsumma has wrapped for another year and organisers are asking for your feedback to ensure the festival stays on target.
Attendances reached over 100,000 during this year's Midsumma Carnival which also saw an appearance from the Victorian Premier, Denis Napthine, a first in Midsumma history.
Midsumma Festival Manager Monique Thorpe told gaynewsnetwork that having Napthine open Midsumma and bring the special message his government was working to remove the historic criminal convictions against gay men was a very significant event.
“Even having the premier at all was pretty amazing and his coming with his special guest Noel Tovey and bringing that special message was very special,” she said.
This year attendances at Carnival topped 100,000 and Thorpe said the return to Alexandra Gardens was welcomed by everyone attending.
“It was like coming back to home ground and we didn't hear any negative comments about Carnival being back there.”
Thorpe said that attendances across the 120 ticketed and non-tickets events during this year’s festival were about 140,000.
Thorpe said that to ensure the festival keeps in touch with the community they are asking everyone who attended to take part in an online survey and give feedback.
“With only three staff in the festival office it's difficult to monitor so many events,” Thorpe said.
“So the survey will help us get feedback from people about what they liked, didn't like and anything else they want to tell us about the festival.”
