The winners of the annual Men-on-men art competition at The Laird have been announced.

The grand prize goes to first time entrant, Andrew Li, for his work titled ‘Guys’, which is a mix of medium including marker, watercolour and digital.

“The overall idea was just a bunch of guys hanging out, but also I wanted to capture a greater sense of diversity in the drawing” he said.

Li is a graphic designer and illustrator by trade, but this is only his second foray in art competitions and was shocked when he got the call he had won.

“I think I will definitely enter more competitions now,” he told MCV.

Li won a $500 Deans Art voucher and his work will also feature on the cover of the next MCV issue (June 25).

The People’s Choice Award went to Mark Currie for his untitled piece (pictured above).

Brett and Mark from The Laird want to thank the sponsors and supporters of the Men-on-Men art competition but “first and foremost, the artists who bare their souls (amongst other things) for our entertainment”.

The works will continue to be on display until Friday 27, June in the during regular bar hours.
