Pride Bake Off rises early for Midwinta Festival

LAST UPDATED // Tuesday, 08 July 2014 17:21 Written by // James Findlay

The annual Pride March Bake Off will be running early this year, held Saturday 9 August during the inaugural Midwinta Festival.

The Bake Off will still act as a fundraiser for Pride March, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, and is now run by Midsumma.

Held at DT's Pub, this year the competition will be judged by Masterchef contestant, Andrew Prior, drag king, Sexy Galexy and cabaret icon and Midsumma favourite, Kaye Sera.

"We understand that not everyone is fluent with their fondant or inspired by icing, but don't let that stop you form competing," Bake Off Organisers said.

"There will be a separate section for those who wish to compete the easy way, by purchasing their cake!"

Categories include; Best Novelty Cake, Best Home Made Cake, and Best Store Bought Cake.

Following the judging, all cakes will be auctioned off to the public to help raise further funds for Pride March.

So grab yourself an apron, whip out the food colouring and beat those eggs! This competition is sure to be fierce.
