Kissing for marriage equality

Equal Love Adelaide will be celebrating Valentine’s Day and promoting same-sex marriage rights with a kiss in Adelaide’s premier shopping precinct Rundle Mall.

The equal marriage rights group said they are hoping to increase the awareness of sexual inequalities in Australia as seen in the current federal ban on same-sex marriage.

“On a day that everyone associates with love, we want to highlight that not all love is celebrated equally,” said Equal Love Adelaide spokesperson Jason Virgo.

“Despite marriage equality being a basic issue of civil rights of which the vast majority of Australian support, a number of politicians in Canberra continue to ignore this.”

Equal Love said dozens of gay and lesbian couples have already signed up for the “kiss-in” due to take place on Tuesday February 14 on the corner of King William Street and Rundle Mall.
