New CEO for AIDS Council
The AIDS Council of South Australia (ACSA) has announced the appointment of a new CEO.
Barry Horwood, a former CEO of ACSA has been appointed to the position, winning over a strong list of candidates.
Horwood’s previous six-years stint as CEO was followed by work at the Northern Territory AIDS & Hepatitis C Council. He then spent three years in Papua New Guinea, working with various HIV organisations.
“The knowledge of the HIV sector and of ACSA’s communities which Barry brings to the position is invaluable”, said outgoing Interim CEO, Erik Michielsen.
The appointment comes ahead of a Special General Meeting to be held next Tuesday, March12 to address member concerns over how the Council has recently been performing.
Horwood said in a statement he realised he was taking the reins again in a time of change.
“I recognise the significance of recent changes at ACSA, and am excited about being part of the change process, along with our clients, community members, stakeholders and partner organisations," Horwood said.
"Collaboration with other organisations is an important part of ACSA’s role in the community, and one that I look forward to playing my part in strengthening.”
Horwood will begin work at ACSA next week.
