Tyra Banks' new transgender series to 'blow the roof off stereotypes'
America's Next Top Model host Tyra Banks will co-produce a new TV series - TransAmerica - which will depict the lives of trans women living in the States.
The show, which has been slated to air on VH1 early next year and which will be hosted by trans model Carmen Carerra, is about the relationships fostered between transgender women.
"This is a show about a group of compelling, gorgeous young friends who are on a unique journey while staying true to their authentic selves," says network head of programming Susan Levison.
Tyra Banks, who has signed on to produce the show, says its appeal lies within its ability to portray participants in a light contrary to perceived ideas about transgendered people.
“TransAmerica is a groundbreaking docuseries that will blow the roof off stereotypes and set the record straight as we experience the lives of these fun, stunning women."
