Tickets  for the 53rd annual Queen’s Ball are now on sale. One of the world’s longest running LGBT events , the Queen’s Birthday Ball Awards are a mainstay on the queer calendar. The awards and subsequent Ball, honour community identities, organisations and events that contribute to the colour and spirit of our LGBTI community.

The Awards are presented by Brisbane pride. Pride President, Peter Black said the committee is very excited about this year’s event.

“it is marked by a number of firsts for us. For the first time, we’re rewarding Pride members with a ticket presale, we’re offering a sit down meal and beverage package, and this is the first time the Queen’s Ball has been held at City Hall. We’re very appreciative of the financial support provided to us by Brisbane City Council, which is allowing us to host a world-class affair.”

The first Queen’s Birthday Ball  wards took place in 1961, since then it has evolved to become an extravagant celebration of queer culture.
Award categories include Volunteer of the Year, Drag Performer of the Year and the much coveted Lifetime Achievement Award
.

The theme for this year’s ball is ‘The Great Gatsby’, and Brisbane City Hall’s marvellous domed and marbled auditorium will prove a fitting setting for the extravagance. Entertainers appearing at the Ball include Christopher Watson and the Atomic Pulse band.

All tickets include a two-course meal, four-hour beverage package and, of course, the presentation of awards for outstanding achievements in the LGBTI community.

Besides premier seating, VIP ticket holders are invited to an exclusive function in the foyer from 6 p.m. featuring a welcome Queen’s Cocktail, canapés, complimentary pre-dinner drinks and entertainment by a local jazz trio.

Tickets start from $75 for members. All tickets on sale from http://brisbanepridefestival.com.au.
