Thousands take to Sydney streets for March in March
It is estimated over 100,000 protestors took to the streets in NSW yesterday in a series of marches in protest of the Abbott government.
Despite drcnching rain and a sudden autumn thunderstorm, around 12,000 protestors were in attendance for a rally held at Belmore Park on Sunday protesting the Prime Minister’s stance on gay marriage, asylum seekers, the environment and industrial relations.
Speakers addressed the crowd before the march set off, with emcee Sydney comedian Matt Wakefield calling the PM a "shameful rascist".
UK singer Billy Bragg also entertained the crowd with a protest song.
March in March events continue throughout the month. A March in March rally is slated for Canberra today.
