The Fosters and Behind the Candelabra honoured at GLAAD media awards

Family drama The Fosters and HBO’s Liberace bio pic, Behind the Candelabra were the big winners at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards.

The Fosters is a groundbreaking drama that focuses on the lives of a lesbian couple and their foster kids. The Fosters is produced for ABC by Jennifer Lopez. J-Lo also picked up the coveted vanguard award at the ceremony for her work with the LGBTI community.

Amongst the other winners was iconic TV wirter Norman Lear who produced the groundbreaking 70s sitcom All in the Family and trans actress Laverne Cox, who picked up the Stephen Kolzak Award.

Long-running daytime soap, Days of Our Lives also scored a gong for daily drama. The soap opera recently made TV history by airing the first male same-sex marriage on daytime TV.
