SX and MCV columnist nominated for Walkley Award
SX and MCV columnist and self-professed ‘GWOG’ (gay wog), Patrick Abboud has been nominated for a Walkey, the nation’s most prestigious journalism awards.
Abboud’s story of the young Afghani Malina Suliman and her graffiti-based activism against the Taliban, which aired in August on SBS2’s The Feed, has been nominated for Best Multimedia Storytelling.
The Best Multimedia Storytelling category is granted to journalists who push the boundaries of the craft and platform in creative ways.
The 58th annual Walkley Awards will be presented on November 28 at a gala dinner in Brisbane’s Royal International Convention Centre. The ceremony will also air on a ‘pop-up channel’ on ABC3 from 9pm.
