Same-sex couples steal the show with mass wedding at Grammys
The audience may have been packed with an A-list crowd that included power couple Beyonce and Jay Z, but the real stars of the 56th Grammys were the 33 same-sex and straight couples who wed on stage during a performance of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, ‘Same Love’.
Queen Latifah officiated the ceremonies which included same-sex couples from as far afield as Utah.
The spectacle provided a truly moving moment within the razzle dazzle ceremony. The ceremony also proved a lucky talisman for the musical duo, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis walking away with the gong for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song for ‘Thrift Shop’.
While a trio of Aussie artists were nominated this year, (Tame Impala, Hiatus Kaiyote and The Greencards) none managed to snaffle an award.
