Queenslander makes waves in Chicago at International Mr Leather comp
Chicago is getting excited about Queensland’s entrant in this year’s International Mr. Leather (IML) competition to be held on May 24.
Max Mack (aka Maximus) won the right to represent our state by becoming Mr Queensland Leather.
Chicago LGBTI magazine, The Windy City, did a feature story on Mack, playing up the Aussie angle, and reporting:
“What does Max ( ‘Maximus’ ) Mack—the ‘rigger from Down Under’ and winner of Mr. Queensland Leather—bring to the 2015 International Mr. Leather (IML) competition? An Australian accent, a sardonic wit, a complete obsession with ropes and men in leather—and as of just three years ago—Max also brings what he calls a sense of ‘full self-identity’.”
Mack talks about his experience as a trans man in the article, and noted the tie he has to Tyler McCormack, the transman who won the 2010 IML title.
"I am fortunate enough to have spoken briefly to Tyler online and, of course, I have been inspired by his journey. His advice to me is advice that is sound for any of us: be authentic, live your truth, and respect your brothers and their journey.”
