QuAC’s PlayBox party pops the cork on the new-look Wickham Hotel

The Queensland AIDS Council (QuAC) staged the first major event at the revamped Wickham Hotel on the weekend.

The PlayBox dance party was a fundraiser for the organisation, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

QuAC executive director Michael Scott told QP that although the final fundraising figure was still being calculated, the success of PlayBox showed the support that QuAC had within the LGBTI community.

“The turnout was fantastic,” Scott said, “and I was very impressed with the Wickham renovations.”

Scott said approximately 20 people volunteered their time to make the event a success.

“Fundraising has always been an important part of what we do at the Queensland AIDS Council and it’s something we will be doing regularly over the coming years,” he said.
