Police seek witnesses to Oxford Street attack

Surry Hills LAC is seeking witnesses to an assault that took place on Oxford Street last night (Thursday December 19).

A 38-year-old man was involved in an argument with another man at a restaurant on Oxford Street around 10:45pm. The verbal stoush soon turned physical. As the man was leaving the restaurant, the other man punched him in the head, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The attacker then fled in a taxi.

Police were alerted and called to the scene and the 38-year-old was taken t St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in intensive care in a critical condition after being treated for head injuries.

Detectives from Surry Hills Local Area Command are investigating and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
