Participants wanted for HIV home testing study

LAST UPDATED // Tuesday, 15 April 2014 09:58 Written by // Cec Busby

ACON is on the hunt for more gay men to participate in the Kirby Institute’s Forth Study – a home HIV testing trial.

To participate it needs to have been more than two years since your last HIV test and you need to be living in Sydney and intend to stay in Australia for the next two years.

The 'Forth' study mirrors a similar study being run in the US and requires participants to take a mouth swab, with results available in 20 minutes.

The research is being conducted by The Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales in collaboration with Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, Sydney Sexual Health Centre, University of Melbourne, Victorian AIDS Council/ Gay Men's Health Centre and ACON.

One of the issues the study is exploring is whether improved access to testing – such as home testing - will result in more frequent testing by gay men.

This study is completely confidential.

If you’re interested in participating in this research, contact Dermot at ACON on (02) 92062051. Be quick places are filling fast. Find out more.
