Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox to write memoir

Transgender actress and LGBTI activist Laverne Cox, who rose to fame as one of the stars of Netflix’s dramedy, Orange is the New Black, has signed to write a memoir of her life.

The autobiography which is tipped for a 2015 release, has been snapped  up by Harlequin and is said to describe Cox’s journey growing up assigned male but identifying as female and her transition to become an acclaimed actress and advocate for LGBTI people.

“Laverne Cox is a powerful, accomplished actress and a beacon of hope to countless people of all ages around the world. The story of her life to this point is nothing short of an inspiration,” said editor Rebecca Hunt, in a press release regarding Harlequin’s acquisition of the title.
