Convicts to the Maximus
SYDNEY: The Sydney Convicts are already planning their conquest of the Bingham Cup in Manchester in 2012. And to help with their campaign, they’re holding another Rugger Bugger and this time, they’re taking their cues from the Colosseum.
Rugger Bugger: Gladiator, on Saturday, November 12 at the Midnight Shift, will see Convicts players take their kit off on stage, all in an effort to raise funds for next year’s tournament.
"The Convicts are determined to win the Bingham Cup in Manchester next year, but we really need the community's support to help get us there,” said Sydney Convicts President David Whittaker. “This is a crucial fundraiser,"
Whittaker said the club has a “bunch of sexy new players who can't wait to get their gear off for a good cause”.
“The theme is ‘gladiator’ and our guys will be literally battling it out to the death in, and out of, loin cloths. Think Gladiator, think Mad Max, think Ben Hur, think sweaty naked rugby players.”
The club is now also recruiting new players to help them with their Manchester campaign.
"The Rugby World Cup was very inspiring for our Manchester Bingham Cup campaign – we need to show that Australian gay rugby is the best in the world."
