Author // Serkan Ozturk Categories // News + Politics | New South Wales

Marrickville Council will be hosting a GLBTIQ panel discussion and open forum later this month as council continues with its planning of projects, events and resources for the GLBTIQ community over the next 12 months.

Representatives from groups and organisations including Twenty10, Rainbow Babies Playgroup, The Gender Centre, and Sydney Ten Forty – an informal group of socially and politically active lesbians – will be present for the March 17 event to be emceed by ABC personality, Bernie Hobbs.

The Forum will be opened by the Mayor of Marrickville Councillor Morris Hanna who said the discussion of ideas will help council in its aim of promoting issues relevant to local GLBTIQ communities.

“Attendees can have their voice heard and provide advice and help facilitate effective communication between Council and members of the GLBTI communities in the Marrickville area,” Hanna said.

“This feedback will feed into Council’s planning and guide Council’s development of locally responsive events and services.”
Interested parties are encouraged to contact Marrickville Council for information on how to become involved in the forum and contribute ideas and views into decision-making processes.

The forum will be held 9.30am – 1.30pm, Saturday 17 March 2012, at Petersham Town Hall, Crystal Street, Petersham. To book or further information, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or phone (02) 9335 2143
