The Aurora Group’s traditional Fat Tuesday fundraiser helped raise $6,500 earlier this month.

The LGBT philanthropic organisation has thanked the local community and sponsors for the support shown on February 12 for the traditionally lavish evening which this year featured UK cabaret stars Frisky and Mannish.

The event at Slide, Darlinghurst saw 100 guests treated to a three-course feast and entertainment from singers Jacinta Gulisano and Sarah Abouhamad, musical theatre stars Matt Lee and Rowena Vilar, as well as a stunning Dusty Springfield tribute by Monique Montez.

The annual raffle and auction combined with generous donations contributed to the $6,500 raised on the night.

Aurora chairperson Marcus Bourget said he couldn’t be any happier with the amount raised or the turnout on the night.

“The Aurora Group wishes to thank the generosity of our guests, along with our sponsors who made the night possible,” he said.

“Fat Tuesday continues to be a fabulous night to celebrate our community over Mardi Gras, and we look forward to seeing everyone in June for the Aurora Annual Dinner.”

Aurora’s next major event will be its Annual Dinner on June 22. For more information, visit www.auroragroup.com.au
