Mitzi Macintosh returns to host Bingay

The original hostess of ACON’s weekly charity event Bingay is returning to Sydney to host the event one final time.

Mitzi Macintosh began hosting Bingay when it started in 1999 and continued to do so until she moved to the UK in 2010.

Now she’s back and will be teaming up with barrel girl Naomi Palmer for one night only to host a special edition of Big Bingay.

“For over a decade, Mitzi and her crew pleasured thousands of Bingay punters with outrageous antics, hilarious repartee and those deliciously lewd bingo calls,” ACON events coordinator David Wilkins said.

“So for one night only Bingay fans will be able to relive the magic and mayhem while helping raise money for ACON.

“She’ll be sharing stories from her life in London as well as reminiscing about her career here in Sydney, especially her time as Bingay’s hostess.”

Mitzi helped raise over a million dollars for HIV/AIDS charity ACON during her time as Bingay’s much-loved host, while cabaret and theatre star Trevor Ashley has previously paid tribute to Mitzi as his mentor and in 2007 she was listed as one of the country's 25 most influential gay and lesbian people.

Tickets to the event will include refreshments, prizes and several games of bingo.

Big Bingay, 7.30pm, Saturday, February 23. Paddington RSL, 220/232 Oxford St, Paddington. To book: www.acon.org.au/bingay
