Pride March ready to step out

Organisers of the 18th annual Pride March Victoria (PMV) are gearing up for this year’s event, following the inclement weather that plagued the march in 2012.

Around 120 groups have registered from across Melbourne and greater regional Victoria to participate in the march.

PMV President Shane Marquis said preparations for the event are coming along well.
“Our entertainment line up is headed by the one and only Joel Creasey and is looking bigger than ever before,” he said.

Out footballer Jason Ball will be joined by fellow Yarra Glen Football Club players, wearing their uniforms to help lead off the crowd from St Kilda’s Lakeside Drive.

Participating groups include Australian Marriage equality and Living Positive Victoria ENUF, highlighting the anti-HIV discrimination campaign.

A new contingent has also been created, March With Pride, to unite any individuals wanting to march as one for the occasion.

Pride March takes place on Sunday, February 3. Assemble at the corner of Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy Streets, St Kilda from 12 noon. Speeches begin at 1:30pm, with the march starting at 2pm. After-march celebrations will be held at Catani Gardens and followed by the after party, ‘Party with Pride’, at the GH.
