Jason Ball to lead Pride March
Earlier this month, openly gay AFL footballer Jason Ball spoke to 100 new AFL draftees about his story and homophobia at the AFL Player Association’s Induction Camp. Continuing his campaigning work against homophobia in sport, Ball will lead this year’s Pride March along with fellow players from his club, Yarra Glen.
The announcement was made Friday at the St Kilda Town Hall at the Pride March launch.
With the rainbow flag flying above the hall, Pride March Victoria president Shane Marquis was joined by Ball and acting Mayor of Port Phillip Serge Thomman for the occasion, which saw the announcement of the March contingents and entertainment for this year’s event.
Nearly 100 organisations will take part under the ENUF campaign, including ENUF ambassadors, Dykes on Bikes, Australian Marriage Equality, Victoria Police, Living Positive Victoria, Australian Gay and Lesbian Multicultural Council and Minus18.
Post-march entertainment in Catani Gardens will be hosted by gay comedian Joel Creasey and features drag performances, Camp Camp Revolution and Jono Francisco.
The 18th Annual March takes place on Sunday, February 3 at 2pm.
