Author // Andrew Shaw Categories // News + Politics | Queensland

Testing Point is a new Healthy Communities initiative run in partnership with volunteer doctors and nurses offering free, after-hours peer based HIV/STI testing to the LGBT community once a week on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm at 30 Helen Street, Teneriffe.

The Testing Point clinic welcomes walk-ins, or people can make an appointment by calling (07) 3017 1733. As well as STI testing, the clinic provides peer support and health promotion to clients.

This new testing service currently provides HIV and/or Syphilis testing with the aim of providing full STI testing in 2013. There is also the option for people to take part in a trial of a Rapid HIV testing. This trial is currently underway to demonstrate the effectiveness of rapid HIV testing in Queensland.

Testing Point is a safe, confidential service run by qualified volunteer GPs and nurses. It's bulk-billed via Medicare, so bring your Medicare Card.

The free "Testing Point" clinic run by Healthy Communities took it's last clients for this year at last night's clinic.

This service is now closed for the Xmas break and will resume operating again on Tuesday 22 January 2013 . It will then be open every Tuesday night 6-8pm .
