New Zealand celebrates six months of same-sex marriage

I’s been six months since our Kiwi cousins gave marriage equality to LGBTI people and the statistics have been surveyed and reveal that over a quarter of marriages taking place are between Aussie same-sex couples.

Statistics from the New Zealand Department on Internal Affairs show a large amount of Australians are travelling over to New Zealand to get married, with new businesses and a wedding show opening up to cater for the demand - 97 out of the 361 same-sex marriages to date have been Australian couples.

One savvy Aussie lesbian has taken advantage of the influx of Aussie same-sex couples to establish a wedding planning business, Queer Eye which caters solely to same-sex marriages, to help make travelling to New Zealand to get hitched a simple affair.

Until Australia grants marriage equality it is expected New Zealand will continue to be amongst the top destinations for same-sex weddings for Aussies.
