With thousands of rugby players and supporters from all over the globe set to descend upon Sydney for the Bingham Cup this August, the Oxford Street precinct is preparing for a celebration.

Three iconic Darlinghurst venues have been bestowed the mantle of official Bingham Bars during the week-long festivities and will be decking their premises with Bingham signage.

The three official “Bingham Bars” are Kinselas and the Beresford Hotels near Taylor Square and the Stonewall Hotel on Oxford Street.

“Our goal is to create a mini-Mardi Gras in August. We’re very  excited to have these three venues as our official Bingham Bars; they will offer our visitors and locals an array of great entertainment creating a hub of activity each night”, Bingham Cup Sydney events manager Jonny Bastin told SX.

“Each bar is well established and very popular with the community, offering a diverse entertainment line-up that is unique to each and complements each other. We expect people to bar hop between each venue to make the most of what’s going on.”

As well as individual events each night all three bars will be a part of the Bingham Cup Rugby Bar Tour, to be hosted by Maxi Shield on Wednesday August 27 plus ‘Super Saturday’ a charity fundraiser on August 30.

Glenn Hansen from Stonewall said Stonewall Hotel is extremely excited to be a Bingham Bar through the Bingham Cup. “This is a great event and we are going to give them a wonderful place to have fun, party and see the amazing talent Sydney has to offer.”

The Bingham Bar fun kicks off on August 24 with a meet and greet at the Beresford to welcome the early arrivals from interstate and overseas and will continue each night.
