More publicans pull Coopers from their bars
The backlash against Coopers Brewing Co. continues today with more pubs and bars across Sydney and Melbourne pulling the popular ale from their taps and fridges.
Several venues in the Newtown area including the Union and Newtown hotel have dropped the beer. On Monday afternoon the Newtown announced it would be pulling Coopers in favour of a local drop from the Rocks Brewing Company. The pub is also donating money to GetUp to fund their marriage equality campaign.
The Union Hotel announced they would be donating funds from sales of their remaining Coopers’ stock to beyondblue and would be removing the beer from their taps.
Sircuit bar manager Chris Drisoll went so far as to video the destruction of the venues remaining Coopers’ stock.
Among the first venues to pull Coopers from its taps was local Surry Hills LGBTI haunt, The Hollywood Hotel, home to DIY Rainbow founder James Breko's trivia night.
