To celebrate last night's opening performance of Cock the Melbourne Theatre Company are making the songs, especially written by Missy Higgins for the play, available to download.

Written by British playwright Mike Bartlett, Cock tells of the love triangle between two gay men and a woman and, after director Leticia Caceres heard Higgins doing a cover of Gotye’s “Hearts a Mess” she approached her to write music for the show.

“I thought she would connect emotionally to the heart of this piece and bring something really fresh to it. And she has. Her music is just beautiful,” Caceres said.

The Australian premiere season of Cock plays at Fairfax Studio, Arts Centre Melbourne, until March 22. To download the tracks for free go to the MTC Soundcloud page

My friend & I loved the play but as I commented at the Forum, the ending was terrible but I really meant 'Tragic'!!!
It was intense, clever & exhausting but wonderful, Well done & cograts on a wonderful showing, J.L.
