Marriage Equality Advocates want their day in court
Australian Marriage Equality national director Rodney Croome says marriage equality advocates will seek dispensation to appear before the High Court in support of the ACT government’s Same-Sex Marriage Bill.
"We intend to seek leave to appear before the Court in defence of this profoundly important new law and we are already working with constitutional experts to this end,” Croome said.
"We will also continue to work with the ACT Government to ensure its law is as robust as possible, which may involve further amendments."
Attorney general George Brandis has lodged documents with the court to have the law struck down on constitutional grounds.
