The third International ANZPATH (Australia and New Zealand Professional Association for Trangender Health) Biennial Conference, will take place in Adelaide over the October long weekend (Oct 4-6). The conference aims to promote the health and wellbeing of transgender and gender diverse people.

Kelley Glanney from Carmen Rupe Memorial Trust (CRMT) said the event looks like being the southern hemisphere’s most comprehensive conference program ever on crucial issues and challenges in relation to transgender health.

“As well as being the most comprehensive conference program on trans* health in the southern hemisphere, we’re pretty excited about this events potential to help bridge the historical divide between the trans community and those health care professionals best placed to help us address the myriad and multifaceted challenges this community still faces,” Glanney said.

“Truly unique amongst trans health conferences, every session of this conference is open to all community members, thus affording them the opportunity to fully engage with some of the leading trans health professionals from around the world.”

According to the conference background material, ANZPATH aims to serve as a forum to promote communication and collaboration amongst professionals involved in the health, rights and well-being of people who experience difference in sexual formation and/or gender expression.

The conference is committed to developing best practices and supportive policies which promote the health, rights and well-being of people who experience difference in sexual formation and/or gender expression.

An ongoing purpose of ANZPATH is to establish a network of professional service providers in the fields of the health, rights and well-being of people who experience difference in sexual formation and/or gender expression.

Glanney said the Carmen Rupe Memorial Trust has begun fundraising to assist Adelaide members of the trans community to attend the conference.
