WATCH: BTFG shows support for LGBTI people
BT Financial Group (BTFG) is continuing to show its support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people by asking all its employees to wear purple in solidarity for LGBTI youth on Wear it Purple Day (August 29).
The company is also calling for LGBTI staff members to share their stories with the community and record a video message for the It Gets Better campaign.
It Gets Better Australia aims to show LGBTI young people that despite discrimination and bullying. a positive future is possible. The campaign shares video messages from adult LGBTI who have experienced bullying and come through it to build healthy, happy, successful lives.
Employees from BTFG, Westpac and St George have made a video sharing their stories that they hope will inspire LGBTI youth.
BT Financial Group (BTFG) Chief Executive Officer, Brad Cooper, said the sponsorship and ongoing programs within BTFG are about supporting LGBTI youth with the challenges they face due to community attitudes and the pressure and isolation felt when “coming out.”
