Aurora Ball raises over $60,000
The figures are in and the Aurora Group has announced last weekend’s glamourous ball at Sydney’s Town Hall has raised over $60,000. The funds raised will be used to provide grants to LGBT community groups in NSW.
450 guests attended the glittering black and white ball, which featured performances from Debora Krizak, Jacinta Gulisano, Phil Scott, Blake Bowden, Darren Mapes, Brendan Hay and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir. Group Captain Cate McGregor delivered the keynote address and comedian Joel Creasey get things running along smoothly as the Ball’s emcee.
“Organisations like Aurora are still so vital in assisting our LGBT community groups, providing grants for projects that, without the assistance of such grants, would never get off the ground, says Aurora Chair Adam Niewand.
“By giving to Aurora, you are giving to all those community groups who need it most."
Niewand also praised outgoing event director, Wayne Cox for his efforts in creating such a successful event.
“I would also like to pay tribute to Aurora Event Director, Wayne Cox, who as a volunteer, worked so hard to create this magical evening. This year marks Wayne's 3rd and final year as Event Director. He will be staying on as a director of the board and will be invaluable in a mentor role of his successor”
The Aurora Annual Ball is a fundraiser for Aurora’s charitable grants programs, for GLBT projects across New South Wales. Small grants will be open to community groups and allocated later in 2014.
The next Aurora Ball will be on Saturday 20th June 2015 at Sydney Town Hall. Further information about Aurora is available at www.auroragroup.com.au.
