Paris confesses in cab most gay guys ‘probably have AIDS’

Wouldn’t it be great if we all had a publicist to clean up the mess we make in taxis at drunk o’clock every weekend? Well, if you’re Paris Hilton, you do.

The world’s most loved and hated heiress was recently recorded by a cab driver in Manhattan making sweeping comments such as, “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world … they’re disgusting,” and “Dude … most of them probably have AIDS”.

The story was revealed first by RadarOnline and has since been reported by publications including SMH and ABC News online. The audio on YouTube has also gone viral. Hilton’s comments were in response to being shown the Grindr app by a gay friend who was with her in the cab. “Ew, ew!” she is heard to say, before making her comments.

Grindr themselves reacted quickly with a twitter knockdown of Hilton that has already been retweeted thousands of times: “@parishilton, frankly we’re surprised that you hadn’t heard about Grindr sooner, given some of the guys you date”.

Hilton’s name may be in the headlines, but it’s her PR team that will be left dealing with the fallout. One statement released to the media claimed that the heiress’ remarks were meant to be closer to a public health message. 

“Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life-threatening disease,” the statement reads. 

“It was not her intent to make any derogatory comments about all gays.”

The statement ends with a reminder Hilton remains “a huge supporter of the gay community”.
